These famous images taken of Mars have been debated over since their release to the public. What are these strange anomalies on the surface of Mars. Could these be nothing more than normal rock formations or the remains of an ancient alien civilization?

It's a little like cloud-gazing ... just by chance, things can form into shapes that touch the human imagination so that they are interpreted as this or that ...
Then again, they could be deliberate formations ... But then why have we not found any evidence of life on Mars beyond possible bacterial life (much too small to make rock formations)? And why are all of these formations large enough to be seen from space (and too large to be much use on the planet)? Do we have to swallow the whole Erik von Daniken story to buy into the Mars monuments?
Too many questions. I'll say "probably not the remains of alien civilization," and stay tuned for further evidence ...
You make a good point. I do feel that sometimes we can make something out of nothing. However, I find some of the evidence out there pretty compelling. For me, I have a hard time believing that we are the only ones in the universe and that nothing came before us. Just like we build structures/ monuments here on Earth to remain after we are gone, maybe the same a long time ago happened on Mars. Who knows??? There have been many questionable artifacts and places that have been discovered by scientists/ researchers over time. I have a friend at a well known museum in Chicago who said that they have underground storage rooms with items that they can not display because their discovery contradicts the time line of events/history as we know it. I find that interesting....
Thanks for your comment jeffrey!
It is cool pictures but I think it might be the cloud-thing...
1) I absolutely believe (without knowing first-hand) that we are not the only planet in the universe with intelligent life. As for particular instances, however, I'll reserve my judgment (and lean toward the negative) until I see something conclusive.
2) Who's your friend and at which Chicago museum? I live in Chicago, so maybe I'll follow up. I know some of this sort of "secret storage" must exist—not all of the Area 51/Indiana Jones-type stories can be fictitious. Then again, an old friend once told me that his friend had once told him some of the strange and amazing secrets of the 13th inner-level of the Masons, or something ... but it all turned out to probably be imaginative entertainment and too many mushrooms.
3) Thanks for visiting my Nurse blog! You might like this one too: The Horror! When I visited before, I forgot I had taken my other blog off of my profile.
The Field Museum. I am sure that they are not the only ones with items not on display.
