Ghost Ships Of The Great Lakes

Ghost ships have not only been seen on the ocean. There are a number of ships that have mysteriously disappeared on the Great Lakes and were later spotted by sailors.

In September of 1678, the Griffon vanished without a trace on the waters of Lake Michigan. The vessel was never found yet, a number of sailors reported seeing the ghostly ship on the water years after its disappearance. Another famous ghost ship of the great lakes is that of the Edmund Fitzgerald. On November 10, 1975, during a unrelenting viscous storm the Edmund Fitzgerald, without warning, sank to the bottom of Lake Superior taking all crew members down with her. The ship was eventually found broken at the bottom of the lake. However, many sailors have reported seeing the ship years after it sank afloat and untouched by the storm tossed waters.

Those who are familiar with sailing the Great Lakes say that these five bodies of water are haunted by vessels which have been claimed by its dark waters. Sightings of ghost ships are reported most often by frightened mariners during dense suffocating fog and sudden violent storms that frequently occur without warning.

Haitian Zombies

Associated with the voodoo practice, zombies are a real phenomenon originating from the West Indian country of Haiti.

For years, Zombies were believed to be the corpses of the dead brought back to the world of the living. However, today we now know that a cocktail of poisons administered by Bokors ( voodoo witchdoctors) are responsible for creating the walking 'dead'.

One of the most well known documented examples of this phenomenon is that of Clairvius Narcisse who died at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Haiti in 1962. Eighteen years after his death had been certified, he turned up at his sisters home alive and able to detail accounts from their childhood. Hospital records show that his recollection of the events were accurate. He even bore the scar from where a nail was driven into his coffin striking his cheek as he lay paralyzed in his grave. It is believed that a Bokor robbed his body from the graveyard and with a series of spells and poison turned him into his slave. Clairvius believed with out a doubt that a dispute over family land between his brothers is what ultimately doomed him to this fate.

Today this fearful practice of zombification is outlawed yet, many Haitians still fear its dreadful consequences.

Archer Woods Cemetery

Growing up near the Chicago Land area, I heard stories about a mysterious women in white who has been heard sobbing and weeping behind the gates of this cemetery. Residents in the area claim that they have seen this women crying while walking among the graves with her hands over her eyes. A number of motorist have also witnessed this mysterious women in white.

Over the years a number of stories have been told about who this weeping women was. Yet, no one seems to know where she has come from and why her ghost remains.

Paranormal TV Shows

If you have these channels and the opportunity to sit down and watch the tube, here are my favorite shows that deal with the paranormal.

On the W Network, Friday After Dark kicks off with Most Haunted. A show dedicated to bringing true ghost stories to it's viewers with a dedicated team of professionals who spend 24 hours filming at the haunted locations. (I no longer watch this show. Most Haunted should be canceled, they have no business investigating the paranormal-nothing but bullshit! They give the field a bad name- Aura)

Ghostly Encounters is a half hour show about the experiences people have had with the paranormal world. The encounters are told by the individuals themselves and reenacted for the viewers. Rescue mediums is a show with two world renowned psychics who visit haunted homes and businesses. They have no prior knowledge or access on the history of the locations. Once there, the psychics are able to connect with the spirits and learn of what keeps them form crossing over. Psychic Investigators is a documentary style show with case stories told by the actual detectives and psychics who have worked together on the crimes.

Images Of An Orb

This is a picture that a reader sent to me. It was taken on Christmas Eve with a digital camera. There is a very obvious orb in this picture.
Here is the same picture cropped and zoomed.

None of the orbs that I have turning up in my photos are this "solid" in appearance. Also, notice the blue aura/halo around the orb?. Your feedback would be much appreciated on these two images.

Ufo's In Ancient Art

What is to be said of the numerous paintings that show figures which resemble our modern day images of extraterrestrials and Ufo's? What is the meaning behind these images and what were the artists trying to tell us? What do you think?

"The Madonna with Saint Giovannino" was painted in the 15th century by an unknown artist. There is a disk shaped object off to the right of here shoulder.

Here is the same photo blown up. Notice the man and dog looking up at the object.

Located in the Svetishoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta, Georgia,
this 17th century fresco has two saucer shaped objects on either side of Christ. When the picture was blown up, two faces could be seen inside the objects.

These images were found in Australia in an Aborigine cave. It is estimated that this painting is around five thousand years old and believed to depict extraterrestrials.

O'Hare Airport UFO Report

Recently a number of reports and detailed eyewitness accounts have been made public regarding the UFO seen at O'Hare International Airport this past November. Here is the actual report made by a senior aircraft mechanic to the National UFO Reporting Center.

Ok I have been hesitant about talking about this, but after hearing the report on Coast to Coast AM with Mr. Norey I can not be silent. I work for a major airline at O'Hare, I am a taxi mechanic. I have the job responsibility of moving aircraft under there own power from gate to gate or the hangar complex for maintenance. We also accomplish the engine run-up testing needed. So I hope that does something for establishing a little of credibility for my report. I am still in absolute wonder and amazement at what I saw that afternoon.

Around 1630 a pilot made a comment on the radio about a circle or disc shaped object hovering over gate C-17 at the C concourse in Chicago. At first we laughed to each other and then the same pilot said again on the radio that is was about 700feet agl (above ground level). The day was overcast with the ceiling being reported at 1600 feet if I remember correctly. I was taxing a Boeing 777 from the Intl Terminal to the Company Hanger on the North side of the Airport. As we passed the C Terminal on the Alpha taxiway we observed a dark gray hazy round object hovering over O'Hare Intl Airport. Is was definitely over the C Terminal. It was holding very steady and appeared to be trying to stay close to the cloud cover. The radio irrupted with chatter about the object and the ATC controller that was handling ground traffic made a few smart comments about the alleged UFO siting above the C terminal.

We had to continue moving the aircraft to the hangar. After parking I noticed the craft of no longer there but there was an almost perfect circle in the cloud layer were the craft had been. The hole disappeared a few minutes later.

For the rest of the night there were jokes made on the radio about the siting.

Ball Lightning?

A reader just sent me this experience that she had with her family. Thank you for sharing your story.

"One summer my Dad, brother and I were driving on an empty highway, at night, somewhere near the Texas-New Mexico border. There really was nothing but dirt and scrub brush in every direction. Until we see this ball of light in the road ahead of us, about the size of my head and the color of a Mountain Dew bottle. It was floating/bouncing towards us, and even though we slowed it came right at us.

Then it hit the windshield of the truck and dissolved. No malfunctioning radio, no electric hum in the air, back to the dust and scrub scenery.

Maybe it was ball lightning. I'm not sure because I have no basis for comparison. Or maybe it was something much more interesting. At least, that's what I'd prefer to believe. Maybe if any of your readers have experience with ball lightning, they can tell me if that is what we encountered that night."

I will be doing a follow up post on this phenomenon as soon as I can pull together some information. Does anyone have an idea as to what this could have been. If so, please comment.

A Reader's Experience

Here is an experience that one of my reader's recently shared with me. The events that took place happened in her childhood home in Indiana.

"Well ok, we used to always hear our names being called and no one was there. Things would move and there were at least 3 witnesses in the room each time these things happened, so it wasn't our imaginations. Our house consisted of three levels. A full basement, middle level and then the upstairs. Our house was huge. The basement connected to a tornado tunnel that connected to the garage which then led to outside. It was kind of cool but, it was scary at times too. I used to exercise in the basement, at night, when everyone was sleeping except my mom who was usually upstairs on the top level. I used to always feel like someone was watching me. Sometimes so strongly that I would quit dancing and run upstairs.
The scariest thing of all was when I was 13. For my birthday my parents redid my bedroom for me. We painted it pink (was purple and yellow) and I loved it. It was my dream room. I loved going in there. One very insignificant day (nothing was going wrong, nothing bad happened, it was a normal sunny day) I went into my room and I froze. It was as if I was in a different place. It was my room, but it felt so cold. I could actually feel an evil presence in it. I will never forget that feeling. So, brave as I was (or stupid, either way), I ran to my bed and grabbed a children's bible that I had. I believed in God and all that and Jesus but, I never read the bible. It was there and I thought what the heck, so I began to just read randomly from it. I did not look up from that book. I don't know how long I read but, when I finally did look up, my room was back to normal and that feeling was gone. I was never so scared by something I could not see. So, as I grew up and believed more and more in Jesus, things stopped happening. No more names were called. No more objects moving. Things were back to normal. Now, when we moved to our new home 11 years ago, I used to have nightmares about that house in Schererville. I mean, like wake up in a cold sweat nightmare. Then I realized where I was and that it was a dream and I was ok. Then, I started to read the bible and study it and the dreams stopped. Now, I don't want to throw my religion on you or anything but, I will say that I do now know that there are demons that roam this earth and they can and will try their best to get at you. What I also now know is that they can't touch you if you call on Jesus."

Haunted Hollywood Set

Jennifer Love Hewitt is the star the television hit 'The Ghost Whisperer'. The show is about a young woman that can communicate with the spirits of the dead. In a interview with US chat show host Megan Mullally, she spoke openly about the strange happenings on the set.

"We've had lights move, literally three and a half inches to the left, as you're sitting there the lights move. "We've had lights burst over actors' heads when they're playing people who don't believe in ghosts. A light will burst into a million pieces right over them.

"People are like, 'We're not guest-starring on that show!' "But for us as a crew we're kind of like, 'Awesome! Maybe they (the ghosts) are with us.'"

So what do you think? Is this a way for the show to boost their ratings or is something spooky going on?

The Bell Witch

The story of the Bell Witch is one of America's greatest ghost stories ever told. The Bell family was tormented by this unseen intruder over a period of four years ending shortly after the death of John Bell.

Word spread quickly about the strange happenings in Adams, Tennessee and soon people from all over were traveling to the the family's home. One of the most famous visits documented was by General Andrew Jackson and a number of his men. He was determined to either reveal the occurrences as a hoax or put an end to the evil spirit that was attacking the family. As Jackson and his men neared the property their wagon suddenly stopped as if being held back and could go no further. The road under the wheels was smooth and nothing could be seen keeping the wagon from moving forward.

"The driver popped his whip, whooped and shouted to the team, and the horses pulled with all of their might, but could not move the wagon an inch. It was dead stuck as if welded to the earth. Gen. Jackson commanded all men to dismount and put their shoulders to the wheels and give the wagon a push, but all in vain; it was no go. The wheels were then taken off, one at a time, and examined and found to be all right, revolving easily on the axles. Gen. Jackson after a few moments thought, realizing that they were in a fix, threw up his hands exclaiming, "By the eternal, boys, it is the witch." Then came the sound of a sharp metallic voice from the bushes, saying, "All right General, let the wagon move on, I will see you again to-night." The men in bewildered astonishment looked in every direction to see if they could discover from whence came the strange voice, but could find no explanation to the mystery. The horses then started unexpectedly of their own accord, and the wagon rolled along as light and smoothly as ever." Stephen Wagner

The exact events that then took place while Jackson was in the home differ from source to source. A chapter in "An Authenticated History of the Famous Bell Witch", written by M. V. Ingram, is by many the most accurate account to date of Jackson's visit.

Some 200 years later, the exact cause for the torment on the Bell family remains a mystery. Over time, a number of stories to explain what took place have been told. One thing remains certain... something very strange and terrifying happened at the Bell farm between 1817-1821.

George W. Bush Created A Ghost

I came across a few articles on this and thought I would write about what I read.

Just a short time after the death of Saddam Hussein, people are already claiming to see his ghost roaming the streets of Baghdad. People say they saw Saddam wandering around in restaurants and throughout the markets. There are different theories out there as to what it is that people are actually seeing. One of these theories is that people are seeing nothing more than Saddam Hussein look-alikes. Another belief is that this is a plot by the Baathists to keep Saddam "alive" in the Sunni communities.

I don't think that there is anything paranormal going on here other than a lot of excitement amongst the Iraqi people. Nonetheless, I found these articles an interesting read.

Black Box Recordings

Here is a 42 minute video from the History Channel. These are the actual black box recordings from numerous pilots that have had experiences with UFO's. This is very interesting and worth watching in its entirety.

This looks real to me. If it is a fake, they did a good job.

Fallen Angel

When you enter my parents home the first thing you see to the left of you is an oak staircase leading upstairs, a large chandelier hanging in the foyer above you and a beautiful wooden shelf on the wall, which faces the doorway, with 3 ceramic cherubs sitting on it.

My mom phoned me one day to tell me that she came home and found one of the cherubs laying broken on the landing. Now, one would expect the angel to have fallen straight down to the ceramic tile below. However, in the position it was found in, it would have had to fallen sideways a least a whole foot to make it on the landing. As I sit here and type this, I am picturing the position of the shelf to the stairway. I can not come up with a reasonable explanation as to how the angel got there.

This made my mom pretty uneasy. It is not the first and last time that an object came down in a way which gave us the creeps. I will save those incidences for future posts.

Some of you may have seen this video before. It is footage taken from a helicopter flying near the World Trade Center in New York. Do you think that this authentic or a fake? Word is that it is a hoax. It looks so real.
