Paranormal Activity

After reading my Noises On The Roof post, a reader commented by sharing his paranormal experience with me. Here is Quentin's story...
I had a friend named Ryan in Austin, Texas who had a similar experience. We would hear stomping sounds in his ceiling pretty regularly that he could not explain. In his mother's bedroom, you could hear what sounded like someone running back and forth across the ceiling. At first he thought there was some problem with the air conditioning vents, but it would happen in the winter as well. There were no problems with the roof and it wasn't the wind. Sometimes it would get so loud that he couldn't hear his music over it. This went on for a couple of years. My friend Ben and I were spending the night at Ryan's house once and Ryan and I left to go buy some cigarettes. I left my cell phone on the coffee table where it stayed all night. When we returned, Ben was standing on the porch. We asked him why he was standing outside and he said he had an unbearably uneasy feeling when he went in alone that he couldn't explain. I finally decided that I wanted to know what was going on in the ceiling so I got a ladder and went up into the attic. I didn't see anything at all when I looked around with my flashlight. I crept in a little farther and peered towards the back of the attic where the vaulted ceiling of the living room blocked my vision. As I did this, I heard a sound like scraping knives and at that moment my flashlight started to flicker. I rushed back towards the ladder and left the attic in a hurry! Ryan asked what I saw and I truthfully told him that I saw nothing, but I certainly felt like there was someone in there with me. Ben said my face was pale white as I descended the ladder. I forgot my phone when I left the next day so I called Ryan to get it for me. He said he couldn't find it on the coffee table or anywhere else in the house. Frustrated, I decided to go back to his house and search for it. Sure enough, it was nowhere to be found anywhere in the house. I was about to give up when the word "attic" popped into my head. I got out the ladder again and climbed back up. There it was, right next to the hatch, sitting there on the crossbeam like someone had placed it there. Creepy. Ryan had also mentioned seeing strange lights outside his window at night, almost as if someone was walking around outside his room with a flashlight. Or the moon was sitting on his front lawn. When we walked outside, no one was there.

Ghost Adventures

Andrea from Ghost Stories posted this video recently at her site. The footage captured here is said to be some of the best proving that the paranormal world exists. Check it out.

Thanks for the heads up Andrea about this new show!

Psychic Kitty

Last night, I was watching my local news when a story came on about a cat in a nursing home that can predict death. Did anyone else see this on their local news last night? Be sure to check out the story below about this cats amazing abilities.

"The I-4 Deadzone" A Paranormal Hotspot

The "I-4 Deadzone" is a small stretch of Interstate 4 between Daytona Beach and Orlando, Florida. Strange paranormal activity has been seen by many drivers along this Interstate over the years.

Remember this famous photo? I wrote a post about it some time ago. At the time I could not find out where the photograph was taken. I recently learned that it is said to be taken on this portion of I-4!

I came across an interesting article on this section of Interstate from a local news station in the area. Check it out, there is also a video clip surrounding the phenomenon there.

Thunderbolts Of The Gods

I don't often write of this subject matter, but I came across this fascinating video about our universe which I thought some of you might enjoy.

"The Thunderbolts Project offers remarkably simple explanations for 'black holes', 'dark matter', the electric sun, comets that are NOT made of ice, planetary scarring and many other 'mysterious' phenomena."

This one's for you Bob J...hope you and the rest of my readers like it.

The Ghosts of St. Augustine

"St. Augustine Florida is America's oldest and most haunted city. Its unique and often-turbulent history has spawned more than four hundred years' worth of shadowy figures. According to local legend, there are numerous ghosts and things that go bump in the night."

Premonitions

Have you ever had a vivid dream which in the future became a reality? Perhaps you were awake and "just knew" something was about to happen. If so, you are not alone. Premonitions have been reported for centuries by all types of individuals from all walks of life.

I have yet to come across one scientific study proving that this phenomenon exists. Hopefully in the near future this will change. What I have come across are some well known, documented cases which made a believer out of me.

One of the most famous cases of this phenomenon involves a former United States President Abraham Lincoln. Shortly before his death, Lincoln told of his chilling "dream".
"About ten days ago, I retired very late. I had been up waiting for important dispatches from the front. I could not have been long in bed when I fell into a slumber, for I was weary. I soon began to dream. There seemed to be a death-like stillness about me. Then I heard subdued sobs, as if a number of people were weeping. I thought I left my bed and wandered downstairs. There the silence was broken by the same pitiful sobbing, but the mourners were invisible. I went from room to room; no living person was in sight, but the same mournful sounds of distress met me as I passed along. I saw light in all the rooms; every object was familiar to me; but where were all the people who were grieving as if their hearts would break? I was puzzled and alarmed. What could be the meaning of all this? Determined to find the cause of a state of things so mysterious and so shocking, I kept on until I arrived at the East Room, which I entered. There I met with a sickening surprise. Before me was a catafalque, on which rested a corpse wrapped in funeral vestments. Around it were stationed soldiers who were acting as guards; and there was a throng of people, gazing mournfully upon the corpse, whose face was covered, others weeping pitifully. 'Who is dead in the White House?' I demanded of one of the soldiers, 'The President,' was his answer; 'he was killed by an assassin.' Then came a loud burst of grief from the crowd, which woke me from my dream. I slept no more that night; and although it was only a dream, I have been strangely annoyed by it ever since."

Another famous person who foresaw his own death was the legendary blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan. Less than one day before his death, Stevie woke from what he described as a "horrible nightmare" and shared his dream with his bandmates. He recalled being present at his own funeral and witnessing thousands of mourners attending in his memory. Just a short 20 hours later, Stevie Ray Vaughan was killed in a helicopter crash.

Here is one more incident for you to ponder about.

14 years before the Titanic sank, Morgan Robertson published a novel called Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan. Interestingly, "the novel seems to tell the exact disaster of the Titanic. The number of similarities go way beyond coincidence. In the novel, the ship was named Titan. It was the same size as Titanic, and carried the same number of passengers. In the novel, the ship also struck an iceberg in the north Atlantic in mid-April and sunk with the loss of over half the passengers due to insufficient lifeboats." Preston E Dennett

Are these true accounts just coincidences???

The Ghost of Jim Morrison?

Back in 1997, rock historian and Doors fan Brett Meisner had his photo taken while at the site of Jim Morrison's grave. It wasn't until 2002 when the image in the background became apparent to Meisner.

"I am not a person who is easily scared by anything. I've kicked more ass than a cowboy and have taken more names than a Census clerk. However, what I uncovered tonight has made me rethink my theory about "the monster in the closet." I didn't believe in ghosts or other "super-natural' things before tonight. While compiling my photo archives for some upcoming projects, my assistant produced a photo of me at Jim Morrison's gravesite in France that was taken several years ago. I looked at this photo before, but I never noticed what I noticed tonight. In short, I am now very confused and possibly scared... " Brett Meisner

Who or what haunts my childhood home?

This is the question that I hope to learn the answer to someday.

Recently, I went home to Indiana to visit some family and friends. I was unable to capture any of the ongoing phenomena on film which I had hoped to share with you, my readers.

I did hear the sound of a door knob rattling when no one else was in the home and saw a dark shadow move across the wall during the daytime while laying down for some rest.

While talking to my mom one evening, I saw a figure dressed in white float down the stairs. Seeing that gave me the chills and caused tears to well up in my eyes. I have never experienced anything like that before in the home and am now questioning what exactly it was that I saw. It happened so fast and just when I became aware of what it was my mind was telling me I was seeing....it disappeared.

I try to approach all my experiences like Jason and Grant do along with the rest of the team from Ghost Hunters, with a rational explanation first. All too often, I can't come up with one!

So, who or what is in the home? Some members of my family believe strongly that it is a loved one, who has passed on, trying to get our attention. Perhaps we will never know. There is a lot of turmoil right now surrounding one immediate family member. Maybe this is the cause for some of the recent activity? There are periods of little or no activity and then something very apparent will happen. Why? Hopefully with further research into this phenomenon, I will learn the answers to my questions.

Here are a few locations outside of North America that I found.

The Min-Min Lights-Boulia, Queensland, Australia
Longendale Lights-Longdale Valley, Derbyshire, UK
Hessdalen Valley Lights-RØROS, NORWAY
Dovedale Light-River Dove, Dovedale, UK

After looking into each of the stories behind these mysterious lights, I found a lot of railroad workers who lost their heads here. Are some of these unexplainable? Yes. Could some have an origin that is paranormal? Yes. However, I feel that in a number of these cases it is nothing more than atmospheric conditions causing the phenomenon.

Bhangarh Ruins

Bhangarh is situated in state of Rajasthan, India, in the Alwar district. It is known for its historical ruins.

Today Bhangarh is known for its ruins where nobody dares to stay after sunset. Looking through history we find that this town was established by Madho Singh, younger brother of King Akbar’s General Raja Man Singh, in 1631. But the city seems to have been abandoned in a hurry some centuries later.

The local folks say that due to a curse the whole town was vacated overnight. According to the story of the curse, if the town was ever rediscovered the township would not be found, but only temples would show up.

True to the story only temples dot the landscape and even far up on the mountains only shrines can be seen. It is said that nobody returns from there who stays after dark.

By the Government of India rules there has to be an office of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) beside every historical structure in India. But even government authorities did not dare to open an office there. They opened their office about one kilometer away from the ruins of Bhangarh. Even this office is close to a temple because of this myth. ASI has put a signboard at Bhangarh saying, "Staying after sunset is strictly prohibited in this area."

People who visit this place out of tourist interest say that there is a strange feeling in the atmosphere of Bhangarh, which causes sort of anxiety and restlessness.

The Green Mountain UFO

J.R. from Alabama wrote:
"I was just watching Larry King's special on UFO's and it reminded me of a time I encountered a UFO. I believe 100 percent that my sighting was not of this world. I live in Lacey's Spring, about 4 miles south of Huntsville, AL. home of one of NASA's centers. My sighting occurred a few years ago when my mom had picked me up from school. We were at a stop sign and I was looking out at Green Mountain on the other side of the Tennessee River. A flash of light caught my gaze and I saw it. I could not make out the shape because the sun was reflecting so brightly against it. My best guess would be an ovalish shape. The object stayed motionless in the sky for a moment, then would zip across the sky at an unbelievable speed. This vessel was very sophisticated. I got my mom to see it and it zipped around a few more times and then it suddenly shot straight up into the atmosphere and disappeared. I wish I could witness something like this once more in my life."

Thanks J.R. for sharing your story with me and the rest of my readers! Fascinating...

The Dropa Stones

In 1938, an expedition led by Chinese archeology professor Chi Pu Tei said to have discovered a number of strange skeletons and stone discs in the remote mountains near the China - Tibet border. Many believe what Chi Pu Tei discovered was an alien species that crash landed there 12,000 years ago. In recent years this discovery has been called "The Chinese Roswell", for it too has a crashed spaceship, alien bodies and a government cover up.

Here is the first of 5 videos relating to this event with links to the remaining 4 below.

Larry King Live - Rosewell Revisited

Last night, world renowned UFO expert Stanton Friedman appeared on Larry King Live alongside Buzz Aldrin, George Noory and others to revisit the Rosewell incident that took place 60 years ago this month. The program also included skeptic Michael Shermer who is the publisher of 'Skeptic' Magazine.

At times there were way too many people talking at once, and I found all the commercial breaks annoying. Aside from that, there were some very interesting photos revealed and facts brought to the table. If you have the chance, read the transcript below from last nights show. Until I find the video online, this will have to do.

The White Witch of Rose Hall

In Montego Bay, Jamaica, there stands a large sugar plantation with a violent past. Built in 1770, a beautiful Georgian style mansion sits on the property and was once home to Annie Palmer who came from France to the plantation in 1820 after marrying it's owner John Palmer.

Annie Palmer was well known and feared by all the slaves who lived and worked on the plantation. She dealt with those who crossed her by ordering public hangings, whippings, torture and executions on the property. It was also believed that Annie was well versed in voodoo and often performed black magic on her subjects.

The mistress of the plantation was known to have numerous lovers, including slaves from the plantation. When she became bored with these individuals, she ordered the slaves do her dirty work to rid of them. When she no longer needed her first husband John, she killed him by poisoning. Two more husbands of hers followed the same fate. In those "lawless" days, no one questioned the death of a master.

The White Witch of Rose Hall finally met her match when she killed the man that her Overseer's daughter was madly in love with and soon to be married to. Her Overseer was a very powerful Voodoo practitioner, which he kept hidden from Annie, and could not bear to see his daughter so grief stricken. He physically confronted Annie Palmer and succeeded in killing her, losing his life in the battle as well.

After her death, the body of the White Witch was placed in a special grave. The slaves failed at one thing... performing the powerful ritual that would keep Annie's spirit from rising from the grave. It is believed by many that she roams the Rose Hall today along with all the other restless spirits that died so violently there.

Ghosts Of War

Throughout history, numerous reports of paranormal activity on the battlefield have been documented. In some cases, long after battles have been fought, restless spirits continue to roam the area. Gettysburg is one common example of this intriguing phenomenon here in North America. The world is full of battlefields where, in some cases, strange things have been witnessed.

Bosnia is one such place where centuries of war have left behind countless spirits. In the 1990's, during the Bosnian War, U.S. soldiers had their own encounters with ghosts of war. A troop encamped near the Posovina Corridor, had to withdraw due to reports of a possible sniper in the area. When they moved in to the area where the sniper was believed to be hiding, they followed a set of bootprints in the freshly fallen snow that led them to an abandon building. Once inside, the bootprints ended at the base of a window and the sniper was nowhere to be found. The building was surrounded and the unexplainable disappearance of the sniper left troops unnerved.

Three weeks later, soldiers from the same platoon had another encounter. A Bosnian soldier wandered up to the gates of their encampment and asked for a cigarette. Once lit, he turned away and after a few short steps, he disappeared!
